Build a Better Mousetrap

Have you or a colleague recently built an innovative gadget, improved how you do a certain job or task, or otherwise implemented a change that had positive impact to your workplace or community? Your innovative success can be anything from the development of tools, equipment modifications, and/or processes that increase safety, reduce cost, improve efficiency, or improve the quality of transportation.  Build a Better Mousetrap Competition is your opportunity to show off the innovative projects that we’re proud of in your communities, and also allows us to share your creative concepts and knowledge with other organizations!

Full details are included on the attached submission form, and we encourage you to reach out to us with any questions or if we can help as you consider your submission.   You're also encouraged (but not required) to submit photos and short video clips showcasing your project along with your entry form.  Entry forms must be received by 5/31/2019, but we welcome early submissions!

Suitable entries could come from the following categories, as examples:

  • Maintenance: tools, equipment fabrication, and methods (such as to help reach, lift, assemble)

  • Transportation facilities improvements (such as administrative operations, services, access)

  • Inspection and data collection (such as time analysis and process changes, tracking and reporting)

  • Asset management techniques (such as GIS, mapping, analytical systems)

Entries will be judged on various criteria, including cost savings, benefits to the community and/or team, ingenuity, transferability, and effectiveness.

The winning NH public works, municipality, or other state road agency will receive five (5) T2 workshop seat certificates, with a total value up to $500, and will also be submitted to the National LTAP competition for consideration and potential recognition at the national level!  Equally important- this is a great way to share your ideas with other teams that may also benefit from them.

We look forward to receiving your entries – best of luck to everyone!
